BMW i Ventures Invests in VIA to Strengthen Web3 Data Security

BMW i Ventures has revealed its investment in Via Science, Inc. (VIA), a leading provider of Web3 data protection solutions. This investment is part of a $28 million Series B funding round designed to support VIA’s goal of revolutionizing data security. The company guarantees that transactions are verified, safeguarded, and auditable, regardless of where the data resides.

Unlike traditional cybersecurity companies that often concentrate on network segmentation and passwords, which can create gaps in data access and trust, VIA adopts a unique strategy by embedding zero trust principles directly into the data layer. This approach equips businesses with strong, mission-oriented security solutions that can be seamlessly integrated into their existing systems.

Kasper Sage, managing partner at BMW i Ventures, highlighted the critical need to secure data flows as software-defined vehicles and edge devices become increasingly prevalent. “VIA is paving the way for real-time communication across trusted systems and safer, more resilient mobility solutions,” he stated.

VIA’s decentralized framework distinguishes data protection from both storage and transmission. This approach guarantees timely access and confidentiality for authorized users while mitigating security risks within enterprises. The technology enables secure data exchanges among record systems, internal teams, external partners, machines, and AI agents.

Colin Gounden, co-founder and CEO of VIA, highlighted the effectiveness of their decentralized Web3 solutions. “As we have proven at our customers, decentralized, passwordless Web3 solutions have become the only viable option for securing data transfers,” he said. The recent funding will expedite the integration of their cutting-edge technology platform within businesses. Kate Ravanis, the chief operating officer and co-founder of VIA, noted that their quantum-secure solutions stand out among Web3 technologies. “Unlike any other Web3 technologies, our quantum-secure, passwordless solutions can be deployed quickly and easily in a variety of the most demanding environments,” she explained.
