A Scottish cybersecurity company, established just a year ago, is claiming one of the quickest response times for addressing attacks on businesses. Acumen Cyber claims it not only monitors threats but also prevents, detects, and responds to them in real-time.
In the past year, Acumen’s security engineers have analyzed over 10 billion events, successfully stopping more than 500 potential threats, with an average response time of 28.56 minutes—significantly faster than the industry average of 162 hours.
From the beginning, Acumen aimed to transform the operations of a Security Operations Center (SOC) by emphasizing speed, efficiency, and teamwork. This week, the company celebrated its first anniversary as an independent Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP) with the grand opening of its new headquarters at EastWorks in Glasgow, where its Security Operations Centre is located. The workforce has grown by 60%, and the company has acquired 18 new clients.
Business minister Richard Lochhead attended the event, highlighting that nearly half of all UK businesses and a third of charities experienced some form of cyber breach or attack last year.
“Cyber crime is a growing and evolving threat to our economy and national security. It’s essential that organisations have the right support and expertise to deal with these threats,” he said.
“Acumen Cyber is a great example of a Scottish business – not only responding to the serious issue of cyber security, but also developing innovation that will contribute to the creation of jobs and deliver benefits across the local economy.”
Mark Robertson, CEO of Acumen Cyber, said: “It’s unbelievable what our team has achieved in the last year. We have soared from startup to scaleup, growing our team, our customer base, revenues and partners.
“With our move to EastWorks and the opening of our cutting-edge new SOC, we are entering into 2025 poised to surpass yet more of our targets, expanding our capabilities, growing our engineering team, strengthening partnerships, and continuing to deliver industry-leading security outcomes for organisations.”
Acumen offers a comprehensive range of services available around the clock, including fully Managed Threat Detection and Response for an organization’s complete infrastructure, threat intelligence, incident response, as well as virtual CISO and advisory services. This platform is overseen by Acumen’s skilled security engineers and is supported by top-tier security partners such as Elastic, Recorded Future, AWS, SentinelOne, Fortinet, and CrowdStrike.
