Android’s Find My Device App Now Tracks People Too

Google’s Android app, Find My Device, has received an update that allows users to track not only their lost devices but also friends and family members who are sharing their locations. This new feature, part of the Android March update, was recently rolled out and is now available to more users.

Previously, Google Maps allowed users to see the locations of people who shared their whereabouts. Now, Find My Device adds this capability, enabling users to track both items and people in one place. The map displays the locations of contacts sharing their details via Google Maps, including those using iOS devices.

To use this new feature, Android users can tap on the “People” tab in the Find My Device app. This will show the locations of any contacts who are sharing their whereabouts with you. Additionally, there’s an option to view who you are sharing your location with, as well as settings to adjust how long you share your location with others.

The new design of the app now mirrors Apple’s Find My app, which splits the screen between a map at the top and a list of people or devices, depending on whether you’re tracking people or things.
