Space Solar Appoints Former RBS Executive Richard Winslade as New CFO

Space Solar, a leader in space-based solar power, has named Richard Winslade as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and board member. Winslade, who previously headed Technology, Media, and Telecom Advisory at the Royal Bank of Scotland, brings extensive experience in investment banking, M&A, and digital infrastructure finance, making him a valuable asset to the company as it enters a critical phase of growth.

With a strong background in large-scale infrastructure financing, Winslade is known for securing $330 million in SPV debt financing for fiber optic broadband infrastructure in the U.S., a groundbreaking achievement in the industry. His expertise in structuring complex financial deals will be essential as Space Solar accelerates its mission to revolutionize global energy through space-based solar power.

As CFO, Winslade will oversee Space Solar’s fundraising strategy, focusing on building a global investor network to support its upcoming high-efficiency terrestrial power beaming demonstration, set to launch within the next 18 months. His appointment signals the company’s commitment to rapidly commercialize space-based solar power, positioning it as a key player in the global clean energy market.

Looking ahead, Space Solar plans to secure additional funding over the next five years to develop a mass-manufacturable satellite design and launch its first commercial mission. The company aims to position space-based solar power as a major competitor to traditional energy sources, creating a new demand for space capabilities that could lead to a new economic revolution in space.

Sam Adlen, Co-CEO of Space Solar, commented, “Richard’s deep expertise in infrastructure financing and investor relations along with his physics background makes him the perfect addition to our leadership team. His strategic insight will be crucial as we transition from a pioneering vision to a fully operational clean energy revolution. The potential of space-based solar power is vast, and with the right leadership, we are well on our way to delivering a transformative global energy solution.”

Richard Winslade, CFO of Space Solar, said, “I’m thrilled to be joining Space Solar at such an exciting time. What was once considered science fiction is now on the cusp of becoming a highly profitable engineering reality, providing the world with a dependable, affordable baseload energy source. I look forward to working with the team to drive the financing strategy that will make this vision a reality.”
