Victoria Racing Club (VRC) Appoints Nikki Clarkson as CMO

The Victoria Racing Club (VRC) has appointed Nikki Clarkson, formerly Southern Cross Austereo’s chief marketing officer, as its new CMO.

Clarkson will lead the VRC’s operations in key areas, including social media, digital, communications, marketing, production, and content, in her new position. She will be responsible for promoting brand innovation and growth throughout all Flemington assets throughout the year, including the Melbourne Cup Carnival, which is the organization’s “showpiece” event.

Beginning in July 2011 as SCA’s head of marketing and communications, Clarkson was a seasoned marketing executive who worked there for 13 years.

She was elevated to the position of CMO in November 2019 and remained there for almost four years before departing in June of last year.

She has over 25 years of combined expertise in brand management, digital strategy, media commercialization, and content production.

According to Kylie Rogers, CEO of Victoria Racing Club (VRC), Clarkson’s background will be a great help to the organization and its objectives.

“We are thrilled to appoint Nikki to the role of chief marketing officer,” she said.

“Nikki has extensive experience in understanding the wants and needs of customers, the power of media and content and the importance of storytelling.

“Nikki shares our enthusiasm for the future of Flemington Place and recognises the huge opportunities that lie ahead for the VRC. She will be an asset for our club, VRC partners and the wider racing industry.”

In her remarks on her recent appointment, Clarkson stated that she is excited to help shape the club’s future.

“I am thrilled and proud to be joining one of the world’s greatest sporting and entertainment institutions, and look forward to working with Kylie, the board and the wider VRC team to contribute to an exciting future for the club and the Flemington Place precinct,” Clarkson expressed

Leigh Jordan became the club’s chief racing officer in December, and her position makes her the newest member of the C-suite.

Clarkson will start working at VRC on March 17. Additional C-suite hires will likely be revealed later.
