Alkem Laboratories has appointed Bipin Lokegaonkar as its Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), effective 2 November 2026. He joins the pharmaceutical company following his tenure at Tata Communications, bringing experience in enterprise cybersecurity, security operations and industrial security.
Confirming the move in a communication, Lokegaonkar outlined a professional journey spanning Security Operations Centres (SOCs), operational technology (OT) security and cybersecurity services for large enterprises. His experience includes building and managing security capabilities, driving security transformation and strengthening resilience across IT and OT environments.
His transition from the communications and enterprise technology services sector to pharmaceutical manufacturing brings his cybersecurity experience into an industry where digital security is closely connected with production systems, research activities, business operations and sensitive information.
Alkem Laboratories operates across generics, speciality pharmaceuticals and other healthcare segments, with a presence in more than 40 countries. Its operations cover product development, manufacturing and distribution, creating a broad technology environment that requires security across multiple business functions.
Lokegaonkar’s experience in both enterprise and industrial cybersecurity aligns with the requirements of this operating landscape. While corporate IT systems focus on information protection, operational technology must also safeguard the availability and continuity of manufacturing processes. His background across both areas offers experience in addressing these distinct security requirements.
The company’s manufacturing disclosures highlight initiatives such as process automation, electronic logbooks and electronic batch cards. These systems demonstrate the growing role of digital infrastructure in manufacturing and the importance of protecting connected technology environments.
