Google expands Dreambeans AI app to India with 14 language options

Google is expanding its AI-powered content experience to more users, bringing its experimental Dreambeans app to India. Announced on Tuesday, the app creates personalised visual story collections each day using information from Google services selected by users. It is available to users aged 18 and above on both Android and iOS.

Google Dreambeans: Features and functionality

Part of the Google Labs experiment, Dreambeans is designed to help users discover content related to their interests without scrolling through feeds or entering prompts.

According to Google, the app uses information from connected services, including Gmail, Calendar, Photos, Search, Gemini and YouTube, to generate personalised daily stories.

The content can cover various topics, such as places users may want to visit, arts and crafts, upcoming local events and reminders. Users can open individual stories to explore more details, bookmark content for later or share it with others. They can also provide feedback to help improve the stories generated by the app.

Unlike conventional AI tools that wait for user instructions, Dreambeans proactively identifies and presents content that may be relevant to individual users.

The app also includes a feature that can animate images in selected stories using Google’s Veo video-generation model.

Google Dreambeans availability and supported languages

Dreambeans is now available in India for users aged 18 and above. The app can be downloaded on Android and iOS devices and supports 14 languages:

  • English
  • Hindi
  • Bengali
  • Telugu
  • Marathi
  • Tamil
  • Urdu
  • Gujarati
  • Kannada
  • Malayalam
  • Odia
  • Punjabi
  • Assamese
  • Nepali

However, users can select only 1 language at a time for their generated stories.

Google first introduced Dreambeans in June, initially making it available to users in the US. The company recently expanded access to all eligible users aged 18 and above in the country.

With India becoming the first international market to receive the app, Google is extending its personalised AI storytelling experiment beyond the US.
