City Union Bank Ltd. has appointed Saravanakumar Krishnamurthy as Senior Deputy General Manager and Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), bringing over 22 years of experience in IT, cybersecurity and information security across multiple industries.
Krishnamurthy has worked with organisations across telecommunications, automotive, banking, healthcare, biotechnology and semiconductor sectors, providing consulting expertise in network security and information security. His experience spans security strategy, governance, risk management, compliance, digitalisation and automation.
In his new role, Krishnamurthy will bring his expertise in information security strategy, risk mitigation and technology infrastructure to support the bank’s cybersecurity and information protection priorities.
His professional capabilities include developing security roadmaps, defining operating models, providing strategic guidance and establishing information assurance frameworks aligned with industry standards. He also has experience in designing and implementing cloud-based and on-premises network and security infrastructure.
Krishnamurthy has handled internal and external audits, including third-party assessments, country-specific requirements and regulatory audits. His responsibilities have also included responding to requests for information (RFIs) from audit consultants, suppliers and vendors.
His expertise further covers fraud detection and prevention, cyber incident investigation and response, business continuity planning (BCP) and disaster recovery management.
Before joining City Union Bank, Krishnamurthy served as Group Chief Information Security Officer, Vice President – IT and Data Protection Officer at Vivriti Capital. He led the organisation’s information and data security function, overseeing security strategies, policies, procedures and programmes to protect digital assets. His responsibilities included identifying, assessing and mitigating information security risks while maintaining the confidentiality, integrity and availability of information.
Earlier, he worked at YES BANK as Executive Vice President – Technology Engineering, with responsibilities across IT, network and cybersecurity.
His appointment brings extensive experience in cybersecurity engineering, information security governance, regulatory compliance and risk management to City Union Bank’s technology and security leadership.
