Apple appears to be preparing another major product showcase this month, with reports pointing to touchscreen MacBook Pro models, updated Macs powered by next-generation M-series chips, and a refreshed iPad mini.
According to a report by Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, Apple has started inviting selected media representatives to an all-day product launch experience in Los Angeles on October 28. The event is expected to focus on touchscreen MacBooks, a new iPad mini and Macs featuring M6 chips.
The reported date follows earlier information suggesting that Apple could announce the devices on or around October 27 through an online video presentation and an in-person media event.
The touchscreen laptops are expected to be redesigned 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models. Rumours suggest they could feature OLED displays, a Dynamic Island and lighter designs. Although earlier leaks indicated that Apple might introduce them under a new “MacBook Ultra” name, Gurman suggests they will remain part of the MacBook Pro lineup.
Apple is also reportedly preparing M6-powered versions of the 14-inch MacBook Pro and iMac.
Meanwhile, the next-generation iPad mini could receive an OLED display, a landscape-oriented front camera for video calls and improved audio features.
The upcoming showcase follows Apple’s October 13 product launch, where it introduced the HomeView smart home display, Apple TV 4K (4th Generation) and HomePod mini 2.
The HomeView combines a 7-inch Liquid Retina display with Siri AI and smart home controls. The new Apple TV 4K is powered by the A19 chip and includes updated Siri features, while the HomePod mini 2 features an S10 chip and refreshed audio capabilities.
Earlier this week, Apple also refreshed its smart home portfolio with the HomeView hub and Apple TV 4K (4th Generation).
