Persistent opens 3rd Hyderabad facility to support BFSI technology programmes

As banks and financial institutions move AI projects into production, the need to modernise core technology while maintaining security and operational continuity is growing. Persistent Systems has opened its 3rd facility in Hyderabad to support banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI) customers with AI, payments, cloud and technology modernisation programmes.

Located at Phoenix Equinox in Gachibowli, the new centre offers dedicated workspaces for financial-services projects. It will enable Persistent teams to collaborate with customers on technology programmes that require strong security and operational controls.

The facility adds to the company’s existing Hyderabad operations at WaveRock and Sattva Knowledge City. Persistent employs more than 3,000 people across the city and views Hyderabad as an important BFSI delivery hub because of its technology talent and growing base of financial institutions, fintech companies and global capability centres.

Barath Narayanan, Global BFSI and Europe Geo Head at Persistent, said financial institutions are increasingly deploying AI while upgrading the systems that support their businesses.

“Financial institutions are putting AI into production while modernizing the systems that underpin their businesses. Executing these programs requires domain understanding and engineering expertise, with security and operational continuity central to the work,” Narayanan said.

The new centre includes dedicated programme delivery workspaces and collaboration areas where Persistent and customer teams can work together on AI implementation and modernisation projects. Narayanan said the facility would support closer customer engagement while strengthening the company’s investment in financial-services expertise and talent in Hyderabad.

AI adoption and core modernisation in focus

The centre will support AI implementation, payments modernisation, cloud transformation and operational resilience. These areas are becoming increasingly connected as financial institutions introduce AI while upgrading payment infrastructure, cloud platforms and existing technology systems.

Such projects must meet the sector’s security, compliance and operational requirements. Persistent is positioning the new facility to support these programmes from implementation through delivery, rather than treating AI as a separate technology initiative.

The expansion also aims to increase the company’s capacity to handle BFSI projects without compromising operational continuity. It reflects the growing need for technology service providers and system integrators to combine AI and engineering capabilities with financial-services knowledge, security and operational resilience.
