Building on its recent international expansion, JioHotstar is entering the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region through a partnership with Starzplay. Instead of launching as a standalone service, the platform will be available as a dedicated streaming hub within Starzplay’s app and website, giving subscribers access to Indian entertainment across multiple languages.
JioHotstar brings Indian entertainment to MENA
JioHotstar confirmed that its MENA catalogue will include Indian films, TV shows, originals and reality programmes. The selection will feature the upcoming season of Koffee with Karan and the latest season of Bigg Boss in 6 languages, including Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Bangla.
The company also plans to offer a substantial collection of Malayalam content to serve the large Malayali population in the region.
Subscription plans and pricing
JioHotstar’s content will be available through Starzplay’s subscription plans. The Plus plan costs AED 34.99 (roughly Rs. 960) per month and includes access to a multilingual content library.
Subscribers choosing the Starzplay Max plan, priced at AED 49.99 (roughly Rs. 1,200) per month, can access JioHotstar’s catalogue alongside Starzplay’s sports content.
JioHotstar expands its global reach
The move is part of Reliance Industries’ strategy to build JioHotstar into an international streaming platform. The service launched as a standalone offering in the UK, Canada and Singapore last month.
JioHotstar is reported to have more than 500 million active users. In India, its subscription plans start at Rs. 79 per month for the mobile tier.
