Komal Puri joins MongoDB as Head of Marketing – India

She moves from Innovaccer to take charge of MongoDB’s marketing function in India, bringing experience across GTM, demand generation, ABM, product marketing and content.

MongoDB has appointed Komal Puri as Head of Marketing – India, marking a new leadership move for the company’s marketing function in one of its key markets.

Ms Puri joins MongoDB from Innovaccer, where she served as Senior Director. She announced the move on LinkedIn, saying she would be leading marketing for India alongside a team that had already built strong momentum. She added that her focus would be on building with “clarity and purpose” in her new role.

The appointment brings to MongoDB a marketing leader with experience spanning product marketing, go-to-market strategy, demand generation, account-based marketing, content, martech, media relations and full-funnel campaigns. Her career has included leadership and marketing roles at Innovaccer and FarEye, along with experience at Smart Energy Water, IDC, 20:20 MEDIA, SPAG FINN Partners and the Press Information Bureau.

Her experience has also extended beyond traditional campaign-led marketing into pipeline generation, customer communications, events, analyst relations, storytelling, public affairs and partner marketing. This breadth gives her experience across both brand-building and revenue-oriented functions of B2B technology marketing.

A broader mandate for B2B marketing

Her move comes at a time when technology marketing is increasingly being measured against business outcomes rather than marketing activity alone. In a recent LinkedIn post, she argued that many B2B growth challenges are not fundamentally marketing problems but alignment problems between marketing, sales, product and leadership.

Her view is that predictable growth comes from teams aligning around revenue rather than operating around isolated metrics such as leads, MQLs or individual campaigns. That perspective could be particularly relevant to her new mandate at MongoDB, where enterprise technology buying increasingly involves multiple stakeholders and longer, more complex journeys.

Puri has also identified credibility as a central challenge for modern marketing. In announcing her move to MongoDB, she noted that the hardest part of marketing is not creating demand but earning credibility.

As Head of Marketing – India, Ms Puri will lead the company’s marketing efforts in the country as MongoDB continues to operate within a technology market being shaped by cloud adoption, data modernisation and the growing use of AI.

Her appointment adds another experienced technology marketing leader to MongoDB’s India organisation, with a remit that spans the full marketing spectrum from positioning and storytelling to demand generation and business growth.
