Philips is preparing to enter India’s 5G smartphone market, with its upcoming handset scheduled to launch on September 2. While the company has not yet revealed the phone’s official name, a dedicated Amazon microsite has confirmed the launch date and provided a first look at its design and specifications.

The new Philips 5G smartphone will be available in black, grey and white colour options, although the official names of these variants have not been revealed.

The handset will feature a raised camera module on the top-left corner of the rear panel. The setup includes 2 vertically placed camera lenses and an LED flash. The phone will have rounded edges, Philips branding on the lower rear panel and a hole-punch display with slim bezels.

The smartphone is confirmed to feature a display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It will be offered with 6GB and 8GB RAM options, paired with 128GB and 256GB storage configurations.

For photography, the phone will feature a 64-megapixel AI-powered rear camera. A 16-megapixel front camera will handle selfies and video calls.

The upcoming Philips handset will also include dual stereo speakers with Ultra Max audio. It will carry an IP64 rating for protection against dust and water splashes.

Philips has not yet confirmed the official name of the smartphone. However, an earlier Amazon listing had mentioned the Philips S7221 moniker.

Philips, which is headquartered in the Netherlands, already sells domestic appliances and medical technology products in India.
