Vivo has revealed key details about the display of its upcoming flagship X500 Pro Max ahead of its launch alongside the Vivo X500 Pro. The company has confirmed that the smartphone will feature a BOE 2K panel, while earlier teasers have also pointed to a MediaTek Dimensity chipset and a 200-megapixel rear camera.

Display upgrades on the Vivo X500 Pro Max

Vivo Product Manager Han Boxiao confirmed in a Weibo post that the X500 Pro Max will feature a 6.85-inch “BOE Q11 2K Zeiss Master Color Screen”. Vivo claims it will be the world’s first smartphone to use this display.

The panel uses upgraded Q11 BOE luminescent material. According to Vivo, it improves scrolling performance and reduces motion blur by 93% compared with the previous-generation display.

Chip-level Demura technology and Vivo’s pixel-level compensation algorithm are also claimed to improve colour uniformity by 43%. Brightness uniformity has reportedly improved by 22%, delivering what the company describes as cinematic-level end-to-end colour performance.

Despite the higher 2K resolution, Vivo says the new panel is more power-efficient. Its power consumption is claimed to be 21% lower than the previous-generation 1.5K display, while its lifespan is said to have doubled.

Under-display sensor for brightness control

The Vivo X500 Pro Max will also feature a built-in high-precision under-display multispectral sensor for automatic brightness adjustment. The sensor can distinguish different spectra and colour temperatures and is claimed to achieve a 98% match with human vision.

The panel offers brightness adjustment precision of 0.3 lux. Han Boxiao said, “this is the best automatic brightness experience screen in the Android market” (translated from Chinese).

The smartphone is also teased to run on Origin OS 7. It is confirmed to feature a 200-megapixel Zeiss APO super telephoto camera and a 2nm MediaTek Dimensity chipset.

Vivo is expected to reveal more details about the X500 Pro Max and X500 Pro in the coming days.
