Cybercrime awareness efforts reached more than 1,100 students at Lady Doak College in Madurai, where city police conducted an awareness programme on Tuesday.

Students and faculty members were educated about common cyber threats, including investment scams and digital arrest scams. Officials also highlighted the importance of using mobile phones safely, the impact of social media and the risks linked to excessive mobile gaming.

The programme also familiarised students with the national cybercrime helpline, 1930, and the government portal cybercrime.gov.in for reporting online fraud and other cyber offences promptly.
