Shivaprasad Mundakana takes charge of AscentHR’s people strategy amid global expansion

AscentHR has strengthened its leadership team with the appointment of Shivaprasad Mundakana as Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), effective July 1, 2026.

His appointment comes as the HR technology and workforce solutions company expands across India and international markets.

In his new role, Mundakana will lead AscentHR’s people strategy, with a focus on strengthening leadership capabilities and preparing the organisation for M&A-led growth. He will oversee HR integration for acquired businesses while developing scalable people processes and organisational frameworks across different markets.

His mandate will also include building a culture that connects employee success with client success as the company expands across APAC, the Middle East, ANZ and Africa.

Mundakana brings more than 23 years of HR leadership experience across IT, ITES and commercial organisations. He has held senior roles with global companies including Optum India, GE, Oracle and EFI. His expertise covers talent acquisition, HR business partnering, organisational scaling, HR operations, total rewards, mergers and acquisitions, succession planning, employee engagement, business continuity and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI).

“Joining AscentHR at this point in its growth journey is both exciting and inspiring. The company has built a strong foundation and is entering a phase where people, culture and leadership will play an even greater role in shaping its future. I look forward to working with our teams to foster a high-performance culture where people feel empowered to learn, grow and contribute to the company’s continued success.”

Prior to joining AscentHR, Mundakana was Senior Director, People Team at Optum India, where he spent 10 years leading strategic HR initiatives. During his tenure, he led the integration and stabilisation of XLHealth India following its acquisition and helped scale the organisation from 800 to more than 8,000 employees.

He also supported annual India-based revenue of around US$120 million while maintaining employee experience index scores in the 90s and a 90:10 retention-to-attrition ratio during a period of rapid growth.

AscentHR’s latest appointment comes as the company expands into new global markets through organic growth and strategic acquisitions. Strengthening leadership capabilities remains a key part of its plans to build a scalable and future-ready organisation.
