Andhra Pradesh is emerging as a major talent hub for emerging technologies, leading India in AI and Big Data Analytics (BDA) skilling under the Centre’s FutureSkills PRIME programme. Union government data shows that more than 1 lakh candidates in the state have completed certification in these areas.

According to the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), more than 1.5 lakh candidates in Andhra Pradesh were enrolled or trained in AI and BDA over the past 3 years. Overall, more than 2.1 lakh candidates in the state have been enrolled or trained in these 2 areas. A total of 1,08,895 candidates have completed AI and BDA certification, giving Andhra Pradesh the top position nationally.

FutureSkills PRIME is a MeitY initiative implemented with NASSCOM to support skilling, reskilling and upskilling in emerging technologies. The programme covers AI, BDA, Internet of Things (IoT), cybersecurity, blockchain and Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality (AR/VR).

Across all emerging technology areas, more than 4.3 lakh candidates in Andhra Pradesh have been enrolled or trained through the programme.

FutureSkills PRIME expands nationwide

At the national level, the programme has recorded more than 34 lakh registrations, with 23 lakh candidates enrolled or trained. Around 13 lakh candidates have completed training or received certification across India. About 86% of participants come from Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities, highlighting the programme’s reach beyond major technology centres.

AI talent supports Andhra Pradesh’s tech ambitions

The growing skilled workforce is expected to support Andhra Pradesh’s efforts to attract investment in emerging technologies and build dedicated technology hubs. The state is positioning Visakhapatnam as a technology and AI hub while developing Amaravati as a modern, technology-driven capital.
