The next iQOO flagship could bring several major upgrades, with new leaks pointing to a faster display, a different rear camera layout and a new Qualcomm processor. The iQOO 16 has already appeared on the 3C certification platform, suggesting that its China launch could be approaching.
iQOO 16 display and processor details
According to a tipster, the iQOO 16 may feature a 6.85-inch flat Samsung display with 2K resolution and a 165Hz refresh rate. This would be an upgrade over the iQOO 15, which has a 6.85-inch Samsung M14 8T LTPO AMOLED panel with a 144Hz refresh rate, 2K resolution, 6,000 nits of local peak brightness and 508 ppi pixel density.
The upcoming flagship is tipped to use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro processor, reportedly carrying the SM8975 model number. Earlier leaks suggest the chip could feature a 2+3+3 Oryon CPU architecture with 16MB of shared L2 cache. Graphics could be handled by an Adreno 850 GPU with 18MB of GMEM. The processor is also expected to support LPDDR6 and LPDDR5X RAM.
Redesigned camera and other features
The iQOO 16 could also receive a significant design change at the back. The camera module may shift to the upper-left corner and use a smaller square-shaped design.
Other reported features include a dedicated graphics chip, symmetrical stereo speakers, an X-axis linear motor and a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor. The phone is also rumoured to pack an 8,500mAh battery and offer IP68 + IP69 protection against dust and water.
The iQOO 16 is expected to launch in China in late September or early October, while its India availability remains uncertain. A previous report suggested that iQOO could skip the Indian launch because rising memory prices may push the phone’s expected price above Rs. 85,000.
The company recently increased the price of the iQOO 15 in India to Rs. 85,999 from its launch price of Rs. 72,999.
