A recent performance review conducted by the Centre has placed Telangana at 18th in the country for money recovery in cybercrime cases, with a recovery rate of 46.6%. The review evaluated states across multiple cybercrime-related performance indicators.
Director General of Police (DGP) CV Anand chaired a review meeting with officials from the Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB) and other senior officers to assess the state’s performance on key cybercrime parameters.
According to a press note issued by the DGP’s office, Telangana ranked 13th in e-Zero FIR implementation, 18th in money restoration with a recovery rate of 46.6%, 16th in the Sahayog portal, 6th in the Samanvaya portal, 16th in social media-related performance, 15th in cybersecurity parameters, and 8th in capacity building.
During the review, the DGP noted that the state was lagging in the implementation of e-Zero FIRs and directed cybercrime officials to improve their performance. Officials informed the meeting that 20 e-Zero FIRs had been registered over the past 2 days.
“The national ranking is based on 9 Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and Telangana Police should ensure effective implementation across all these parameters to significantly improve its standing,” the DGP said.
