Strengthening its technology and innovation capabilities, JPMorgan Chase is preparing to hire around 1,000 technology professionals across its India Global Capability Centres (GCCs). The expansion highlights India’s growing importance as a strategic hub for the global financial institution’s digital transformation and AI initiatives.
The recruitment drive will mainly focus on professionals with expertise in cloud architecture, cybersecurity and AI data pipelines. According to a report, candidates will undergo HackerRank-based assessments covering coding, data structures, algorithms and system architecture before being considered for technology roles.
JPMorgan currently employs around 55,000 people across 5 Indian cities, with its major technology and operations centres located in Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Mumbai. The latest hiring initiative is intended to strengthen the bank’s global technology operations and accelerate AI-led innovation through its India GCC network.
The expansion also supports the company’s long-term investment strategy in India. JPMorgan is planning a 2-million-square-foot GCC campus in Mumbai, which is expected to become the largest such facility in Asia. The campus is projected to accommodate up to 30,000 technology and operations professionals by 2029.
The hiring announcement follows recent comments from JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon, who said artificial intelligence has reduced staffing requirements by 30% to 40% in certain business functions. However, he emphasised that AI-driven productivity will transform workforce requirements rather than replace the demand for highly skilled engineering and technology professionals.
The latest recruitment plan reflects the bank’s continued investment in advanced technology talent as it expands its AI capabilities and global digital operations from India.
