Aflac has promoted Tera Ladner to Senior Vice President & Global Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), expanding her leadership responsibilities across the company’s global cybersecurity and information security operations.
In her new role, Tera will lead Aflac’s global information security strategy, overseeing security governance, cyber risk management, regulatory compliance, data protection and enterprise resilience across Aflac US, Aflac Japan, Aflac Re Bermuda and Aflac Northern Ireland. She will also be responsible for the strategy, budgeting, planning, governance and execution of the company’s global information security program while chairing enterprise security oversight committees comprising leaders from business, technology, legal, compliance, privacy, human resources and physical security.
Before this promotion, Tera served as Deputy Global Chief Information Security Officer, where she played a key role in strengthening enterprise-wide cybersecurity governance, security operations and risk management across Aflac’s international businesses. Earlier, she was Global Practice Lead & Vice President – Information Risk Management and Governance, leading initiatives in security governance, enterprise risk management, privacy, regulatory compliance, data classification, third-party risk management and information governance.
She joined Aflac as Director – Information Governance, where she established global frameworks for information lifecycle management, data privacy, records governance and regulatory compliance across multiple international jurisdictions.
Prior to Aflac, Tera spent nearly 6 years at SunTrust Bank as Group Vice President – Corporate Records & Information Management, leading enterprise-wide data governance modernization initiatives and strengthening information management capabilities. Earlier, she held leadership roles at Snapping Shoals Electric Membership Corporation and GreyStone Power Corporation, where she built enterprise information governance, records management and data governance programs.
With more than 25 years of leadership experience, Tera brings deep expertise in cybersecurity strategy, information security governance, enterprise risk management, data privacy, regulatory compliance, third-party risk management, security operations, technology risk, digital resilience and global security leadership.
Her promotion reflects Aflac’s continued commitment to strengthening enterprise cybersecurity, protecting customer data and enabling secure digital innovation across its global operations.
