HCLTech launches GIFT City technology centre to accelerate AI innovation

HCLTech has expanded its presence in India by launching a Global Technology Centre in Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City), reinforcing its focus on AI-driven innovation for the financial services sector while strengthening industry-academia collaboration in Gujarat.

The new facility was inaugurated by Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi and will develop AI-powered solutions for HCLTech’s global financial services clients. The centre will also serve as a hub for building next-generation technology solutions and developing future-ready talent.

Along with the launch, HCLTech signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Gandhinagar and Gujarat Technological University (GTU) to promote AI research, innovation and workforce development.

The collaborations will focus on AI research for financial services, software development and industry-focused skill development. Students and faculty from both institutions will gain practical exposure through real-world technology projects and digital transformation initiatives.

“We are delighted to welcome HCLTech to GIFT City. HCLTech’s commitment to creating local jobs and nurturing local talent aligns strongly with our vision of enabling Gujarat’s youth to access global career opportunities closer to home. The launch of the Global Technology Centre and the AI Lab marks an important step in strengthening GIFT City’s innovation ecosystem and advancing its position as a leading global TechFin hub,” Sanghavi added.

He further said that HCLTech’s expertise in building technology capabilities across different locations will make a significant contribution to Gujarat’s growing innovation ecosystem as GIFT City continues to evolve into a global business and technology destination.

Highlighting the company’s expansion, C Vijayakumar, CEO and Managing Director, HCLTech, said, “We are pleased to establish our presence in the state to engineer the future of financial services clients with innovative AI solutions. At HCLTech, we look forward to contributing to the local technology ecosystem in the state and boosting industry-academia collaboration to create a pool of future-ready talent.”

The latest expansion further strengthens GIFT City’s position as a leading technology and financial services hub, with artificial intelligence emerging as a major focus for enterprises expanding operations in the region.
