Fresh leaks suggest that Poco could soon introduce a new smartphone in India, which is expected to share most of its specifications with the recently launched Redmi Note 17. The upcoming device is also tipped to arrive with a few regional hardware differences, particularly in battery capacity.
According to a tipster, references found in the HyperOS source code point to a new Poco smartphone carrying the model number 2602IPC8I, which is believed to launch as the Poco M8 Power. The same device was previously spotted on the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification website in May with a similar model number.
The leak also claims that the Poco M8 Power has a Redmi counterpart with the model number 26021RN18I, which is said to be the standard Redmi Note 17. This suggests that the upcoming Poco smartphone could be a rebranded version of the Redmi device.
The tipster also shared details about the global Redmi Note 17 lineup. While the Indian version of the Redmi Note 17 is expected to retain the same battery as the Chinese model, the global variant could feature a smaller 7,700mAh battery.
For comparison, the Redmi Note 17 launched in China comes with an 8,000mAh battery, 45W wired fast charging and 22.5W reverse wired charging support.
A similar approach is expected for the Redmi Note 17 Pro. The Chinese version includes a 9,000mAh battery with 67W wired fast charging. However, the global model is tipped to feature a smaller 8,340mAh battery, while the Indian variant is expected to retain the original 9,000mAh capacity.
Apart from the battery changes, the international Redmi Note 17 models are expected to offer specifications similar to the Chinese variants. One reported difference is the camera setup, where the global models may include an 8MP ultra-wide camera instead of the 2MP depth sensor found on the Chinese version.
The latest leak also supports earlier reports suggesting that Xiaomi may continue rebranding selected Redmi smartphones under the Poco brand for international markets. The company has not yet announced the global launch of the Redmi Note 17 series.
