The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet has approved the Uttar Pradesh Startup Mission, a dedicated nodal agency that will bring the state’s startup and innovation ecosystem under a single platform. Approved during a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the initiative aims to simplify support for founders, incubators, investors, industry, and academic institutions.
The new Mission will serve as the state’s central agency for startup implementation, replacing the earlier system where support was spread across multiple departments and schemes. It is designed to provide a coordinated approach to policy implementation, funding, mentorship, and innovation support.
The Mission’s governing body will be chaired by the Chief Secretary, while a dedicated executive committee will oversee day-to-day operations. The new structure is expected to improve coordination, speed up decision-making, and strengthen accountability across the startup ecosystem.
The platform will connect startups with funding opportunities, mentors, and market access. Incubators and innovation centres will receive institutional support, investors will gain access to a curated pipeline of startups, industries will be able to collaborate with emerging technologies and talent, and academic institutions will have greater opportunities to commercialise research.
The Uttar Pradesh Startup Mission will also offer end-to-end support throughout a startup’s growth journey. This includes mentorship for early-stage founders, accelerator programmes, digital platforms for seamless applications and tracking, and innovation centres that provide technical and physical infrastructure.
A key objective of the Mission is to expand the startup ecosystem beyond major cities by promoting entrepreneurship in smaller towns and rural regions. The initiative aims to improve access to mentorship, digital resources, and innovation infrastructure while encouraging local enterprises that can generate employment and support regional economic development.
The Startup Mission was approved alongside several other growth-focused initiatives, including a new data centre policy and measures covering industry, healthcare, education, and urban development. These initiatives support Uttar Pradesh’s broader goal of building a $1 trillion economy.
The state’s IT and Electronics Department is expected to issue detailed operational guidelines and establish the Mission’s directorate in the coming months.
