Strengthening its global capability centre strategy, Zurich Insurance Group has appointed Amit Kalra as Global Head of Zurich Capability Centers, effective 1 July 2026.
In his new role, he will lead Zurich’s capability centres across the world, define their strategic direction, and build scalable technology- and AI-led capabilities aligned with the company’s business priorities. He will also establish and lead Zurich’s new Global Capability Center in Hyderabad, India.
The Hyderabad centre will focus on developing technology- and AI-led capabilities with end-to-end ownership across engineering, data, and core business operations. It will also embed AI-enabled ways of working into how solutions are designed, delivered, and scaled globally.
Before joining Zurich Insurance Group, Amit Kalra spent more than 19 years at Swiss Re, where he held several senior leadership positions. These included Head Global Business Solutions, Managing Director, Head India Centres, Senior Vice President – Head Strategic Initiatives & Head ARC, Head Product Development & Strategy India, and Head Economic Research & Consulting India.
During his tenure at Swiss Re, he played a key role in leading the India centres, driving strategic initiatives, expanding business solutions, and strengthening capabilities across analytics, research, consulting, and product strategy.
Apart from his corporate leadership roles, Amit serves as an Independent Director on the Board of Directors at IIRM. He has also been actively associated with NASSCOM as a Member of the NASSCOM National and Karnataka GCC Council and previously served as Chair of the NASSCOM Karnataka GCC Council.
His industry contributions also include serving as Industry Academia Advisory Council Adviser at Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH). Earlier, he was President South at the Swiss-Indian Chamber of Commerce. He began his career as Market Research Manager at GE Capital International / GE Insurance Solutions.
