SBI expands YONO with AI-driven services for retail and business banking

Marking its 71st Foundation Day, State Bank of India (SBI) has launched a range of AI-powered digital banking solutions aimed at enhancing services for its 53 crore customers. The new offerings strengthen both retail and business banking while reinforcing the bank’s focus on intelligent, customer-centric and future-ready banking.

The latest updates expand SBI’s YONO platform with new digital journeys, AI-driven capabilities and industry-first features designed to simplify banking, support businesses and encourage financial and sustainability awareness.

For retail customers, YONO now offers a 3-in-1 digital onboarding process that allows new users to open a Savings Account along with a demat and trading account with SBICAP Securities Ltd through a single application. Eligible customers can also convert their Savings Account into a Corporate Salary Account or upgrade an existing salary account online without visiting a branch.

SBI has also introduced an industry-first sustainability feature on YONO. The new journey enables customers to monitor the carbon emissions saved through digital banking transactions and track their monthly green score.

For business customers, the bank has expanded eTrade on YONO Business by integrating its complete Trade Finance suite into the mobile platform. SBI has also launched YONO Ji, an Agentic AI-powered virtual assistant available 24×7 across YONO Business web and mobile platforms. The assistant provides instant support for product information, platform features and service-related queries, helping deliver faster and more personalised customer assistance.

Speaking on the launch, SBI Chairman CS Setty said, “As we celebrate 71 years of serving the nation, our focus remains on building a technology-driven and customer-centric bank…today’s launches reflect our commitment to harnessing Artificial Intelligence, digital innovation and data-driven insights to make banking simpler, smarter and more accessible. From financial wellness and sustainable living to AI-powered business banking and mobile trade finance, we are creating integrated digital ecosystems that support India’s growth journey towards Viksit Bharat 2047.”

SBI currently has more than 10 crore registered YONO users, highlighting the platform’s growing role in the bank’s digital transformation journey.
