In his new role, Vishal will spearhead product transformation initiatives, drive growth strategies, and build strategic partnerships across banks, fintech firms, and government institutions.
He will also play a key role in supporting Phi Commerce’s expansion across Asia and international markets while strengthening the company’s payment infrastructure and go-to-market capabilities.
Maru brings more than 20 years of leadership experience across payments, financial technology, merchant acquiring, card issuance, payment processing, digital payments, and financial infrastructure.
Prior to joining Phi Commerce, he served as Global Head – Processing Business at FSS, where he held global P&L responsibility and led initiatives across issuance processing, acquiring processing, digital transformation, ATM managed services, marketing, IT operations, business performance management, information security, and regulatory compliance. During his tenure, he drove growth across multiple payment-processing businesses while overseeing global operations and technology infrastructure.
Before FSS, Maru spent nearly 15 years at Worldline, holding several leadership roles, including Executive Vice President – Financial Institutions, Merchant Services; Senior Vice President – Merchant Services, Digital Payments and Loyalty; Vice President – Sales; and General Manager – Issuance and Acceptance, South Asia.
At Worldline, he led growth initiatives across merchant acquiring, digital payments, card issuance, prepaid solutions, embedded payments, online payments, and payment acceptance infrastructure. He also managed strategic relationships with banks, payment networks, regulators, and ecosystem partners.
Earlier in his career, Maru held leadership positions at Global Payments, overseeing merchant services and sales operations across multiple regions in India. He also worked with ICICI Bank, where he supported merchant acquisition, distribution expansion, and payment acceptance growth through merchant services and card business initiatives.
Maru began his professional career with Shell as Sales Executive – LPG and later worked with Unilever as Territory Sales Incharge, gaining experience in sales, channel management, distribution development, and market expansion.
In addition to his executive responsibilities, he currently serves as a Non-Executive Board Member at Plada Infotech Services Ltd.
Over the course of his career, Vishal Maru has built deep expertise in payment processing, merchant acquiring, digital payments, card issuance, product strategy, business growth, P&L management, strategic partnerships, sales leadership, technology modernization, and financial services infrastructure.
