Kelly brings nearly 20 years of experience across corporate banking, treasury sales, global markets, and investment banking to the leadership role.
In his new position, Kelly will lead the bank’s Markets Corporate Sales business, focusing on strengthening client relationships, delivering structured financial solutions, and supporting corporate clients as they navigate increasingly complex market conditions.
Before joining Standard Chartered, Kelly spent almost 14 years with Stanbic Bank Kenya, where he held several senior leadership roles within the Global Markets division. Most recently, he served as Head, Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB), Global Markets Sales, leading strategic client engagement, structured product origination, sales execution, and business growth initiatives.
During his tenure, he also took on the role of Acting Head – Global Markets Kenya & South Sudan, where he oversaw the Global Markets business and provided strategic leadership across the region.
Earlier at Stanbic Bank Kenya, Kelly held positions including Senior Manager, Global Markets Sales (Structured Sales) and Manager, Global Markets (Treasury) Sales. In these roles, he specialized in treasury products, structured financial solutions, foreign exchange markets, risk management, and corporate advisory services. He played a key role in developing structured solutions, driving cross-selling opportunities, and helping corporate clients manage market volatility through treasury and capital market products.
Kelly began his banking career with Diamond Trust Bank Kenya Ltd, where he spent nearly 5 years in treasury and financial markets functions. As a Forex & Money Market Trader, he managed foreign exchange trading, money market operations, asset and liability management, and fixed-income investment activities. Earlier, he completed the bank’s Graduate Management Trainee Program, gaining experience across branch banking, corporate relationship management, risk operations, treasury, international banking, finance, and operations.
With extensive expertise in global markets, treasury management, structured finance, corporate banking, and client advisory, Kelly D. Ochieng is well-positioned to support Standard Chartered’s growth ambitions and strengthen its corporate markets business.
