Fresh leaks suggest Vivo is preparing to launch a new compact flagship smartphone later this year, possibly under the X500 Pro lineup. The upcoming device is expected to feature upgraded camera technology, a large battery, and MediaTek’s next-generation flagship chipset.
According to information shared by a known tipster on a Chinese microblogging platform, the smartphone currently being tested could be either the Vivo X500 Pro or the X500 Pro Mini. The device is reportedly powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 9600 series processor built on a 2nm process.
The leaked details reveal that the handset may feature a triple rear camera setup. This includes a 50-megapixel primary camera with a 1/1.28-inch sensor and LOFIC technology, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and a 64-megapixel periscope telephoto lens offering nearly 3x optical zoom.
The report also suggests that Vivo could use Sony’s new IMX06H sensor for the telephoto camera. However, the company is unlikely to include a 200-megapixel telephoto sensor in this model, as that feature may remain exclusive to the Vivo X500 Pro Max variant.
Earlier leaks hinted that the Vivo X500 Pro could come with a 6.37-inch flat OLED LTPO display featuring 1.5K resolution. The smartphone is also expected to pack a battery larger than 7,000mAh and may run OriginOS 7 based on Android 17 out of the box.
The Vivo X500 series is expected to debut in China in September, while a global launch may take place in November or December. It has not officially confirmed any specifications or launch timeline yet.
The latest leak points towards Vivo strengthening its premium smartphone lineup with a stronger focus on compact flagship performance, camera capabilities, and battery efficiency.
