Honda Innovation Challenge 1.0 launched to accelerate mobility and digital innovation in India

In a move aimed at boosting innovation in India’s mobility sector, Honda Digital Innovation India and startup incubator T-Hub have launched the Honda Innovation Challenge 1.0. The programme focuses on co-developing mobility and digital solutions designed specifically for the Indian market.

The initiative was launched at T-Hub’s Phase 2 campus in Hyderabad and is being described as India’s first Honda-backed co-development programme for startups. As part of the programme, 4 startups — XANE AI, Attento Technologies, AppTestify, and Sensight Technologies (AutoWiz) — have been selected for a fully funded 60-day proof-of-concept sprint.

Each startup will receive up to ₹10 lakh in co-development funding to create technology solutions for it’s vehicles and customers. The solutions will be developed using real-world Indian mobility conditions and data. The programme will conclude with a Demo Day scheduled for July 31, 2026.

The challenge reportedly received more than 300 applications from startups working across mobility and digital technology sectors. Out of these, 25 startups were shortlisted and presented their ideas to it’s global teams before the final selection process.

Kunal Behl, Director of Honda Digital Innovation India and Vice President – Marketing and Sales at Honda Cars India, said, “At Honda, we believe the future of mobility will be shaped through collaboration with bold thinkers and agile startups. The Honda Innovation Challenge is an opportunity to co-create real-world solutions that enhance customer experience.”

The launch follows it’s recent announcement of Honda Digital Innovation India, a dedicated subsidiary focused on mobility innovation and digital services for India. According to the company, HDII plans to create a digital mobility ecosystem that connects Honda’s two-wheelers, passenger vehicles, and digital services while addressing mobility challenges through technology-driven solutions.
