In a move aimed at improving passenger convenience and ensuring a more transparent reservation process, the Kota Division of West Central Railway (WCR) has introduced a token system for Tatkal ticket bookings across all its stations.
The initiative is designed to streamline queue management and make the booking process more organized for passengers seeking Tatkal reservations.
Under the new system, passengers booking Tatkal tickets in Air Conditioned (AC) classes will receive tokens between 9:00 AM and 9:25 AM. For Sleeper class bookings, tokens will be distributed from 9:30 AM to 9:55 AM.
“Passengers are requested to reach the booking office at the scheduled time, cooperate with the new system, and take advantage of the transparent reservation process,” the division said.
As per Indian Railways guidelines, the Tatkal booking window opens at 10:00 AM for AC classes and at 11:00 AM for non AC classes, 1 day before the date of journey.
Apart from Passenger Reservation System (PRS) counters, Tatkal tickets can also be booked through the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) website and mobile app by Aadhaar authenticated users.
The Kota Division, established on April 1, 1952, is one of the key divisions on the western route of Indian Railways. Its network primarily covers Rajasthan, with portions extending into Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.
Indian Railways has also reiterated its latest reservation chart preparation guidelines. For trains departing between 05:01 hrs and 14:00 hrs, the first reservation chart will preferably be prepared by 20:00 hrs on the previous day.
For trains scheduled to depart between 14:01 hrs and 23:59 hrs, as well as those leaving between 00:00 hrs and 05:00 hrs, the first reservation chart will preferably be prepared at least 10 hours before departure.
The new token system is expected to bring greater order and efficiency to Tatkal ticket bookings across stations under the Kota Division.
