BAT Malaysia elevates Marium Waqar to lead Marketing and Consumer Strategy

Strengthening its leadership team in Malaysia, BAT has promoted Marium Waqar to Head of Marketing, Malaysia, marking a major step in her 15-year journey across marketing, brand leadership, and digital transformation. As part of the Malaysia Leadership Team, she will now lead enterprise-wide marketing, portfolio, and consumer experience strategies focused on commercial growth, brand transformation, and organizational capability building.

Waqar has spent more than 8 years with BAT, where she has handled several strategic leadership roles across markets and categories. Before taking on this new position, she led digital marketing for Vuse, the world’s number 1 global vape brand. Her responsibilities included paid and earned media, social media, digital strategy, e-commerce, and influencer marketing.

During her tenure at BAT, she also held key leadership roles including Area Category Manager – Glo, New Categories, THP, APMEA South; Area Brand Category Manager – Velo, New Categories, MESA; Area Brand Manager – Pall Mall, MESA; and Senior Area Manager. These roles helped her build strong expertise in brand transformation, category strategy, and multi-market consumer engagement.

Before joining BAT, Waqar developed a diverse marketing career with organizations including Bank Alfalah Limited, Abbott, Canderel, Engro Eximp, JWT Pakistan, LOWE & RAUF, Statuspro Inc, and Johnson & Johnson. Her experience spans financial services, consumer healthcare, FMCG, digital strategy, PR, brand management, and commercial marketing.

At Engro Eximp, she successfully launched 10 Engro Bharosa outlets within 1 month. Earlier at JWT Pakistan, she secured the agency’s first digital accounts for leading national brands. During her time at LOWE & RAUF and Statuspro Inc, she led impactful digital, PR, and business development campaigns, contributing to major earned media visibility and brand growth initiatives.
