In a move to expand its advertising capabilities, Snapchat has introduced a new feature called “AI Sponsored Snaps,” allowing users to interact directly with brand-powered AI agents within the app.

The new ad format will appear in Snapchat’s main Chat tab. It enables users to ask questions and receive recommendations from virtual assistants created by brands. This approach aims to make advertising more interactive and personalised.

Snapchat said its user base has already shown strong interest in AI tools. The company revealed that more than 500 million users have engaged with its AI chatbot since its launch in 2023. This growing adoption has supported the rollout of advanced features like AI Sponsored Snaps.

With this feature, brands can reach nearly 1 billion monthly users on the platform. They can deploy their own AI agents to improve engagement and drive purchases. Snapchat noted that the format builds on its existing Sponsored Snaps, which deliver 22% higher conversions at nearly 20% lower cost per action.

The company also shared key engagement data. Around 85% of users actively use the Chat feed. In Q1 2026, users sent nearly 950 billion messages. Among teenagers, 57% message others daily, while 4 in 10 do so multiple times a day.

These figures highlight the strong potential for brands to connect with users through AI-driven conversations and targeted interactions on the platform.
