Nothing enhances Essential Space with cloud backup and cross-device sync

Building on its AI-focused ecosystem, Nothing has introduced cloud storage support for its Essential Space feature. The update allows users to back up their data and access it across multiple devices linked to their Nothing account.

The Essential Space feature, first launched with the Nothing Phone 3 series, is an AI-driven hub that helps users manage notes, screenshots, voice recordings, images, tasks and summaries. With the latest update, all this content can now be backed up and synced through cloud storage.

According to the company, users will be able to access their Essential Space data even after resetting their smartphone or switching between Nothing and CMF devices. The update is designed to make the experience more reliable and continuous.

The rollout is available for Nothing and CMF smartphones launched in 2025 and 2026 that support the Essential Key. While the update is being pushed automatically, users can also manually update the Essential Space app via the Google Play Store. Once enabled, cloud backup settings can be managed under Essential Space > Profile > Storage > Backup.

Nothing said the cloud storage feature is powered by Google’s cloud infrastructure. The company added that user data is handled in compliance with GDPR and protected using Google’s cloud security standards. It also assured that only the account owner can access their data.

The system is designed to work even in offline scenarios. Any data created without internet access will automatically sync once the device reconnects.

Essential Space can be accessed by double-pressing the Essential Key and is used for capturing screenshots, organising stored content, recording conversations and generating AI-based summaries.
