Amazon India boosts expansion plans with ₹2,800 crore investment in logistics and quick commerce

In a major push to strengthen its operations, Amazon India has announced an investment of ₹2,800 crore (nearly $300 million) to expand its infrastructure and services across the country.

This investment is part of the company’s broader commitment to invest $35 billion in India by 2030. A significant portion of the funds will be used to double the footprint of its quick commerce vertical, Amazon Now.

At present, Amazon Now operates in Delhi NCR, Mumbai, and Bengaluru with around 300 micro-fulfillment centers. The company also plans to expand its overall e-commerce network across India, including warehouses and last-mile delivery stations. The goal is to improve delivery speeds, especially in tier-2 and tier-3 cities.

The latest move follows an earlier investment of ₹2,000 crore in June 2025, which was used to upgrade infrastructure. This led to the addition of 17 new fulfillment centers, 6 sortation centers, and 75 last-mile delivery stations across the country.

Amazon India also plans to allocate part of the new investment towards advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to enhance its operations network.

In December last year, the company increased its total India investment commitment from $15 billion to $35 billion. This brings its overall investment to around $40 billion between 2010 and 2024.

The announcement comes at a time when e-commerce companies are rapidly expanding their dark store networks across India.

In terms of financial performance, Amazon Seller Services reported a 19% rise in operational revenue to ₹30,139 crore in FY25, driven by growth in marketplace services and advertising. The company also reduced its losses to ₹374 crore through improved cost management.
