In a significant step forward for immersive technology, Alibaba has introduced Happy Oyster, a new AI model designed to generate interactive 3D scenes and videos with realistic physics.

The launch comes after OpenAI’s Sora shut down, positioning Happy Oyster as a competitor to Tencent’s HY-World 2.0 in the evolving AI space.

What sets Happy Oyster apart is its ability to respond to user actions in real time. Instead of passively watching content, users can actively influence and shape the scenes as they unfold.

The AI model features 2 key modes. The Directing mode allows users to build and modify their own virtual environments instantly. This includes adjusting lighting, changing elements, and even altering storylines while the scene is in progress.

The Wandering mode offers a different experience. It places users inside continuously expanding environments generated from a single prompt, all presented in a first-person view.

Alibaba believes this technology can be used across multiple industries. It could support real-time film production, improve storyboarding processes, and enable more advanced gaming experiences.

The launch highlights the growing competition in AI-driven visual content, where interactivity and realism are becoming key focus areas.
