Nicholas joins Barclays after a long tenure at Citigroup, where he spent over 25 years across multiple senior finance leadership positions. Most recently, he served as Global Head – Financial Planning & Analysis. Prior to that, he held roles including Chief Financial Officer | Banking & International, Client and Legacy Franchises, and Chief Financial Officer | Institutional Clients Group.
Earlier in his career at Citi, Nicholas was CFO – Global Markets & Securities Services and CFO – Citi Japan, gaining deep exposure to complex financial segments and international markets. He also served as Head, Financial Planning & Analysis for Institutional Clients Group, followed by CFO – US Consumer and Commercial Banking, and Managing Director – Head, Corporate Planning & Analysis.
A significant part of his career was spent as CFO – Citi Private Bank, a position he held for more than a decade, reflecting his long-standing leadership in large and complex banking operations.
Before Citi, Koukoumelidis worked as Senior Business Analyst at SPAR Group and as Senior Fixed Income Analyst at Reuters, building a strong foundation in analytics and financial markets.
His appointment brings to Barclays deep expertise across private banking, consumer and commercial banking, institutional clients, global markets, securities services, corporate planning, and international finance. With leadership experience spanning New York, Tokyo, and other global financial hubs, he is expected to add significant strength to the bank’s finance function.
