Bank of Baroda and Jio launch Bob World Lite for feature phone users in India

In a move to expand digital banking access, Bank of Baroda has partnered with Jio to introduce a simplified mobile banking platform designed for feature phone users across India.

The new app, called Bob World Lite, is built “specifically” for feature phones, aiming to bring essential banking services to a wider audience, especially in semi-urban and rural areas. The platform will not only serve existing Bank of Baroda customers but also allow users from other banks to join through a self-onboarding process.

The app will first be available on the JioPhone Prima 4G. Existing users can download it via the JioStore, while upcoming feature phones from the brand will come with the app pre-installed on the home screen.

Bob World Lite offers key digital banking features such as UPI-enabled “Scan & Pay”, fund transfers, bill payments and management, prepaid recharge options, and profile management. The bank has also indicated that more features will be added in the future.

Designed with a “lightweight, low-bandwidth architecture”, the app works smoothly on feature phones and supports keypad-based navigation. This ensures accessibility even in areas with limited internet connectivity.

The platform also focuses on providing “secure access” to banking services, making digital transactions easier and safer for users who rely on basic mobile devices.

With this launch, both organisations aim to bring digital banking services to “millions” of users, helping bridge the gap between traditional banking and mobile-first financial access in India.
