Google rolls out AI-powered restaurant booking feature in India search

In a move to make everyday tasks simpler, Google has introduced new agentic capabilities in AI Mode in India, allowing users to discover and book restaurant reservations directly through Search.

The update focuses on helping users complete real-world tasks more efficiently. With this feature, AI Mode can handle complex, multi-step queries, reducing the need to switch between multiple apps or websites.

According to the company, the system can process detailed booking requests by understanding factors such as party size, date, time, location and preferred cuisine. It scans multiple sources in real time to find suitable options, instead of requiring users to search manually across platforms.

Google said the feature can check live availability, compile results and present a curated list of restaurants that match user preferences. Once users find a suitable option, they are provided with direct booking links, enabling them to complete reservations in a single step.

The experience is powered by Google’s Knowledge Graph, Maps integration and live web browsing through Project Mariner, along with direct partner integrations. In India, the company is working with platforms such as Zomato, Swiggy and EazyDiner to support this functionality.

The restaurant booking feature is currently being rolled out across the country, with plans to expand into more use cases and integrations in the future.

This update is part of Google’s broader strategy to expand its Gemini-powered AI ecosystem in India. The company recently introduced Search Live support in multiple regional languages using the Gemini 3.1 Flash Live model.

Google has also improved the shopping experience within AI Mode. Users can now browse, compare and purchase products more easily, with access to product listings, comparison tables, pricing details and direct purchase links within chat, reducing reliance on traditional keyword searches.
