Hyderabad is steadily gaining prominence as a preferred base for global capability centres (GCCs), backed by strong infrastructure, supportive policies and a skilled talent pool.
Speaking on Wednesday, Telangana IT & Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu highlighted the city’s growing appeal to global firms. He said Hyderabad is well-positioned to lead the next phase of digital transformation as companies focus on building resilient and future-ready operations.
“As global firms look to build resilient and future-ready operations, it is critical for us to continue strengthening our ecosystem through innovation, research and industry collaboration,” he said.
The minister was addressing the inauguration of a new economic policy centre at Mahindra University. The centre aims to serve as a platform for research, dialogue and policy engagement on key national economic issues. It also hosted its first conclave themed ‘Hyderabad: Powering India’s GCC Ecosystem’.
Emphasising the importance of collaboration, the minister noted that stronger alignment between academic research and industrial policy is essential for sustaining India’s global competitiveness. He added that such platforms can help generate ideas that drive the country’s next growth phase.
Vice Chancellor Yajulu Medury said the centre will focus on meaningful discussions around India’s growth priorities, starting with Hyderabad’s rise as a GCC hub. “We are creating an ecosystem where academic rigour meets real-world application by ensuring that our research contributes directly to the nation’s socio-economic blueprint,” he said.
Nilanjan Banik, who heads the new centre, said, “The new centre comes at a time when India is deepening its role in global value chains and capability-led services.”
The conclave brought together policymakers, economists, industry leaders and GCC executives to discuss Hyderabad’s expanding role as a key driver of India’s GCC ecosystem.
