A strategic leadership elevation highlights Capgemini Invent’s continued focus on strengthening large-scale digital transformation delivery across the Middle East. In this new role, Yassir will lead enterprise transformation initiatives and program excellence frameworks, particularly across complex, high-impact engagements in sectors such as telecommunications.
The appointment reflects the organisation’s ongoing investment in enhancing transformation delivery and execution excellence across the region.
Prior to this elevation, Makkawi served as Director at Capgemini Invent, where he led critical transformation programs, including the delivery of Saudi Arabia’s first 450 MHz mission-critical network. This demonstrated his ability to manage large-scale and high-complexity digital initiatives.
Before joining Capgemini, he spent nearly 20 years at Ericsson, holding multiple senior leadership roles across the Middle East, Africa, Asia, and Australia. As Head of Delivery & Project Operations – Digital Services (MEA Central Cluster), he managed large portfolios across multiple countries, driving operational excellence and overseeing complex delivery ecosystems.
During his tenure, Makkawi also served as Head of Digital Services Delivery for XL Axiata in Indonesia, where he aligned stakeholders, managed delivery risks, and ensured successful execution of large-scale transformation programs. He further held roles as Senior Program Director in Australia, delivering multi-million-dollar transformation initiatives, and as Director of Operations in South Sudan, where he improved service delivery quality and operational efficiency.
Earlier in his career, Makkawi held key roles at Huawei, ZTE Corporation, and Sudatel Telecom Group, building strong expertise in core network engineering, telecom infrastructure, and large-scale network transformation.
With over 20 years of global experience across telecommunications, digital transformation, and program management, he brings deep capabilities in enterprise transformation, delivery excellence, and strategic program leadership.
