In a significant move against organised digital crime, Gujarat Police has arrested 10 individuals linked to a large cyber fraud network operating across multiple channels.
The arrests were announced on April 9, 2026, following a targeted operation aimed at dismantling structured cybercrime activities. Investigators revealed that the group was running a well-organised scheme involving mule accounts and layered financial transactions.
According to officials, the accused recruited individuals to open bank accounts using false claims. These accounts were then used to receive money generated from scams such as phishing, investment fraud, and impersonation. The account holders were offered commissions and were reportedly unaware that they were being used to support illegal activities.
During the raids, police seized several pieces of digital and financial evidence. This included mobile phones, SIM cards, and banking documents connected to the network. Authorities said the collected data is currently under detailed analysis to trace additional suspects and map the wider financial chain involved in the operation.
Officials noted that the case reflects the increasing sophistication of cybercrime methods. Fraud networks are becoming more organised, making it critical for individuals to stay alert while sharing personal or financial information and allowing access to bank accounts.
Further investigation is ongoing to identify the main operators behind the network. Authorities are also examining possible international links and the use of cryptocurrency channels for laundering funds.
The case highlights the need for stronger public awareness and cooperation to combat evolving cyber threats and prevent misuse of personal financial systems.
