In a bid to strengthen digital capabilities for merchants, a hyperlocal commerce platform is expanding its AI investments to improve efficiency and growth for small businesses.
Magicpin has introduced ‘Vera’, an AI-powered assistant built to support restaurants and small retailers, along with a $1 million investment to develop its AI-driven technology stack. The assistant is designed to act as an always-on AI co-pilot, helping merchants manage their online presence, monitor real-time order demand, and optimise operations.
Vera delivers actionable insights that help businesses improve planning, customer engagement, and overall efficiency. During its pre-launch phase, the assistant onboarded more than 100,000 merchants, showing strong early adoption among small businesses.
The platform has already shown measurable results, with a 1.5–2x increase in visibility and up to 3x growth in customer actions, according to the company.
Magicpin said Vera is built to address key challenges faced by small and medium-sized businesses, especially those with limited resources. It helps automate tasks such as managing listings, responding to customer reviews, and improving discoverability across platforms, including AI-led search systems.
The company also fast-tracked the rollout in response to operational challenges faced by partner restaurants. Vera was used to provide real-time AI-driven support during disruptions like supply constraints.
With this launch, Magicpin is positioning Vera as a growth driver for merchants while expanding its footprint in the AI-led SaaS and advertising space. The move reflects a wider industry trend where platforms are increasingly using AI to digitise small businesses and improve their competitiveness in online commerce.
