Cosmoserve Space partners with Pixxel to demonstrate space debris removal mission

In a significant step towards addressing orbital sustainability, spacetech start-up Cosmoserve Space has partnered with Pixxel Space to utilise its satellite technology platform for an upcoming debris removal demonstration mission.

The mission is expected to take place in early 2027 and aims to showcase advanced capabilities for capturing and removing space debris from orbit.

“With the number of defunct satellites and orbital debris increasing at an unprecedented pace, ensuring the long-term sustainability of Earth’s orbital environment has become one of the most pressing challenges facing the global space industry,” said Chiranjeevi Phanindra B, Founder and CEO at Cosmoserve Space.

“This partnership directly addresses that challenge by combining Pixxel’s expertise in satellite engineering with our work in debris mitigation technologies,” he added.

As part of the collaboration, Pixxel’s satellite technology platform will act as the base system for the mission. Cosmoserve Space will integrate its proprietary debris capture and removal technologies onto this platform and demonstrate them in orbit.

The initiative highlights growing efforts within the space industry to tackle the rising problem of space debris and ensure safer operations in Earth’s orbit.
