In a significant update for wearable users, Huawei has started rolling out its latest HarmonyOS 6 upgrade to the standard Watch GT 5 in global markets. The Pro version had already received the update earlier, and now the vanilla model is catching up with a wide range of enhancements.
The HarmonyOS 6.0.0.119 update comes with a 2.85GB package and is currently being released in Europe. This rollout is part of Huawei’s broader expansion of HarmonyOS 6 across devices like Watch 5, Watch GT 5 Pro, Watch D2, and Watch Fit 4 Pro.
The update introduces several new features, including refreshed watch faces, fun stickers, and improved system visuals with lighting effects, gradient themes, and smoother animations. Users can now personalise their watch faces with up to 5 images and explore options like the Huahua Cute Animals theme, which reflects emotional states and allows custom data display such as calendar, battery, and health metrics.
A redesigned Emotional Wellbeing app adds support for 12 emotional states based on stress levels, along with guided breathing exercises. Gesture controls have also been improved for better accuracy and usability.
Battery-saving and power-saving modes have been enhanced. The Contacts app now displays all synced contacts, while the call log is renamed to “Phone,” offering keypad access when paired with a smartphone. Calendar features have also been upgraded with week and month views.
Fitness and usability features see notable improvements. The watch now supports connectivity with heart rate monitors, power meters, and cadence sensors. Golf Mode and trail running modes have been upgraded with better visuals, navigation, and performance tracking tools. Additional features like interval training, race guidance, and routes have been moved to a dedicated “More” section.
Other updates include adjustable vibration intensity, improved notification icons, and enhanced gesture detection. VoLTE is also enabled by default for select providers after eSIM activation.
With this update, Huawei aims to deliver a more refined, personalised, and feature-rich smartwatch experience.
