Amazon’s cloud arm, Amazon Web Services (AWS), has reported another disruption in Bahrain, marking the second incident this month linked to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
The company confirmed that its services in the region have been impacted and said it is working to restore operations while assisting customers in shifting workloads to other AWS regions.
“As this situation evolves and, as we have advised before, we request those with workloads in the affected regions continue to migrate to other locations,” Amazon said in a statement.
While the exact extent of the disruption and recovery timeline remain unclear, AWS noted that multiple services in Bahrain are currently facing operational issues, leading to interruptions or limited access for users.
According to reports, the disruption has been caused by drone activity in the area, highlighting the growing impact of geopolitical tensions on critical digital infrastructure.
AWS is a key part of Amazon’s business, supporting global websites, enterprises, and government operations. It also remains the company’s primary profit driver.
This marks the second such disruption since the start of the US-Israel-Iran conflict. On March 3, AWS confirmed that 2 data centres in the UAE and 1 facility in Bahrain were affected by drone strikes, forcing them offline.
The company had then stated, “In the UAE, two of our facilities were directly struck, while in Bahrain, a drone strike in close proximity to one of our facilities caused physical impacts to our infrastructure.”
It added, “These strikes have caused structural damage, disrupted power delivery to our infrastructure, and in some cases required fire suppression activities that resulted in additional water damage.”
AWS had also warned that instability in the Middle East could continue, making operations “unpredictable.” It issued notices across its platforms in Israel, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain and the UAE, alerting customers about extended delivery times in affected regions.
