NASA to outline progress on National Space Policy and Moon mission plans

The US space agency is set to share key updates on its long-term space strategy and lunar ambitions. NASA will host a public event at 9 a.m. EDT on Tuesday, March 24, at the Mary W. Jackson NASA Headquarters in Washington to detail how it is implementing President Donald J. Trump’s National Space Policy.

The session will begin with remarks from NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman, followed by a series of high-level panel discussions. These will focus on mission priorities such as sending astronauts back to the Moon for the first time in more than 50 years, building initial components of a permanent lunar base, advancing nuclear propulsion in space, and other strategic objectives. The agency is targeting 2028 for a return to the lunar surface.

Later in the day, at 4:45 p.m., NASA will host a live news conference from its headquarters to provide updates on progress and recap major announcements from the event.

Key NASA participants include Administrator Jared Isaacman, Associate Administrator Amit Kshatriya, Dana Weigel (program manager, International Space Station Program), Carlos Garcia-Galan (program executive, Moon Base), Steve Sinacore (program executive, Fission Surface Power), Dr. Nicola Fox (associate administrator, Science Mission Directorate), and Dr. Lori Glaze (acting associate administrator, Exploration Systems Development Mission Directorate).

The full program and news conference will be streamed live on NASA+, Amazon Prime, and NASA’s YouTube channel, allowing global audiences to follow the updates.

The event is invitation-only for in-person attendance. Media representatives can join virtually by RSVPing at least 2 hours before the event.
