Wipro expands South Korea presence with new innovation lab in Seoul

Strengthening its global footprint, Wipro has announced the expansion of its operations in South Korea with a larger office in Seoul, the launch of a new Innovation Lab, and continued investment in local talent.

The expansion highlights South Korea’s growing role as a global innovation hub, especially in sectors such as semiconductors, advanced technology, automotive engineering, and industrial manufacturing. Wipro said the move is aimed at meeting rising demand from Korean enterprises for AI-led transformation that can scale across global markets.

Wipro currently employs several hundred professionals in South Korea and supports clients through its local presence along with its global delivery network. This model allows companies to access specialised skills, industry expertise, and scalable global capabilities while maintaining strong local engagement. The company is also working with leading academic institutions to upskill talent and create opportunities for early-career professionals in advanced technology programmes.

Speaking at the inauguration in Seoul, Vinay Firake, CEO of APMEA Strategic Market Unit, said, “South Korea is a strategic growth market for Wipro and an increasingly important centre of global innovation. Our expanded presence reflects our long-term commitment to the region. By strengthening local capabilities, connecting Korea more deeply into our global delivery and innovation network, and co-innovating closely with clients, we aim to help enterprises translate innovation into measurable business outcomes.”

The new Seoul Innovation Lab will be part of the Wipro Innovation Network (WIN), the company’s global network of innovation centres. It will serve as a space for collaboration with clients and partners, enabling co-creation, rapid testing, and solution development. The lab will also showcase Wipro Intelligence, a suite of AI-powered platforms and solutions designed for real-world business applications.

The facility will focus on technology, automotive, and industrial sectors, supporting areas such as intelligent product engineering, software-defined vehicles, smart manufacturing, supply chain optimisation, and AI-enabled operations.

With this launch, Wipro now operates 9 innovation centres globally, including 5 across the APMEA region.
