PepsiCo India launches EV Green Corridor to cut logistics emissions

PepsiCo India has expanded its sustainable logistics efforts with the launch of a dedicated electric vehicle (EV) Green Corridor on the Kosi–Pataudi route, connecting Uttar Pradesh and Haryana.

Developed in partnership with Kalyani Powertrain Limited, the corridor will deploy 8 electric 32-foot single-axle re-powered container trucks. These vehicles are expected to collectively cover around 4.8 lakh kilometres annually, supporting the decarbonisation of long-haul freight operations.

The initiative was inaugurated in the presence of Laxmi Narayan Chaudhary, Cabinet Minister for Sugar Industry and Cane Development, Government of Uttar Pradesh, along with senior representatives from PepsiCo India and partner organisations.

Beyond the corridor, PepsiCo India has electrified over 400 distributor-linked vehicles across the country, focusing on last-mile delivery. In the National Capital Region, the company has also introduced more than 80 CNG-powered vehicles through logistics partners to reduce emissions in urban transport.

“I appreciate PepsiCo India and its partners for taking this important step with the inauguration of the Green Corridor. Initiatives like these reflect how industry can grow while remaining mindful of the environment. The Government is strongly focused on promoting electric mobility and encouraging cleaner modes of transportation, and this initiative is well aligned with that vision,” said Laxmi Narayan Chaudhary.

“At PepsiCo India, sustainability is embedded in how we operate and grow. The launch of the EV Green Corridor on the Kosi–Pataudi route, along with the electrification of our distributor fleet and CNG deployment in NCR, reflects our commitment to building a cleaner, more efficient, and future-ready supply chain,” said Jagrut Kotecha, CEO, PepsiCo India & South Asia.

Highlighting the collaboration, Pankaj Sonalkar, Managing Director, Kalyani Powertrain Limited, said, “This initiative demonstrates how electric vehicle technology can be effectively integrated into commercial logistics when supported by a strong ecosystem. We remain committed to enabling businesses to transition towards cleaner and more efficient transportation.”

The initiative also involves logistics partners Vayudoot Road Carriers and New Trishul Transport Services, supporting EV deployment and sustainable supply chain operations.

Aligned with PepsiCo India’s ‘PepsiCo Positive (pep+)’ agenda, the EV Green Corridor is positioned as a scalable model that can be expanded across routes, contributing to India’s transition toward low-carbon logistics.
