Meta launches Manus My Computer app to bring AI-powered automation directly to devices

In a move aimed at expanding on-device AI capabilities, Meta has introduced a new application that allows users to run advanced AI tasks directly on their computers. The company’s Manus has launched the My Computer app for both Mac and Windows systems.

This AI agent is designed to access local files, applications, and even use idle GPUs, enabling more powerful and efficient task execution directly on the user’s device.

Manus Desktop’s AI can break down complex tasks into smaller steps and complete them independently. It can build Mac apps from scratch, train machine learning models using the device’s GPU, and send files directly from a phone.

The platform integrates with commonly used tools such as Gmail, Google Calendar, Notion, and Slack. It also supports custom APIs, making it adaptable for different workflows and user needs.

The app offers a free tier with 300 daily credits, while paid plans start at $20/month. Unlike ChatGPT, which mainly provides suggestions or instructions, Manus focuses on delivering finished outputs such as ready-to-use Excel tables or functional prototypes.

It is also designed to handle larger workflows, positioning itself in direct competition with OpenClaw’s local agents by bringing cloud-level computing power to personal devices.
